Romney Picking Up Steam in the Commonwealth

As Floridians go to cast their vote for President, one of the two leading candidates has recently picked up a head of steam here in the Commonwealth. Mitt Romney has not only picked up many nationally recognized names over the past week but he has also picked up many of Virginia’s prominent political figures.

Last week Republican National Committeeman and famed founder of the Leadership Institute, Morton Blackwell, endorsed Romney. Blackwell explained:

The only way conservatives are going to beat the Democrats this year is if we unite the major elements of our coalition. Governor Romney is the only candidate who can bring conservative change to Washington now and maintain the conservative coalition so many of us helped Ronald Reagan build.

Romney has also named his Virginia Steering Committee, which is outlined below the fold.

Governor Romney has also enjoyed great success in the local blog polls. Not having any official scientific polling, faux polls are the best indicator of grassroots support. Last week The Virginian Federalist asked its readers who McDonnell and Allen would endorse. 43% responded that they would endorse Mitt Romney.* Governor Romney has also consistently won Bearing Drift’s monthly and weekly tracking polls. He is currently off to a commanding lead with over 50% of the vote in this weeks poll.

In the days ahead, his support will continue to grow here in the Commonwealth.
