Hillary Clinton Facts – “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy”

That darn conspiracy! On January 27, 1998, just ten days after the Monica Lewinski scandal broke, Hillary Rodham Clinton went on NBC’s The Today Show and claimed that a devious plan had been conceived by conservatives to destroy her husband and that the Lewinski scandal was evidence of this. In her own words, she said:

I do believe that this is a battle. I mean, look at the very people who are involved in this — they have popped up in other settings. This is — the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president.
Here is the video if you are more of a visual learner.

Hillary not only termed the situation a conspiracy, but to be believed, she must have actually believed that her husband did not have sex with that woman. According to some, this is not so. In fact, Sally Bedell Smith claims in For Love of Politics that, according to friends of the Clintons and former aids, Hillary knew her husband was lying all along regarding President Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinski. Conspiracy theorists such as Hillary Clinton typically explain strange events through the use of artful and imaginative language. What is unusual is for the public to accept and in some cases even buy the conspiracy theory. But the far left bought the conspiracy theory hook line and sinker. Of course, the Truth being what it is eventually told a different story – that Bill Clinton did in fact have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinski.

Hillary, not one the let the Truth get in the way, later stated, “Looking back, I see that I might have phrased my point more artfully, but I stand by the characterization of Starr's investigation.” Apparently, in an attempt to put it more artfully, she continued:
I do believe there was, and still is, an interlocking network of groups and individuals who want to turn the clock back on many of the advances our country has made, from civil rights and women's rights to consumer and environmental regulation, and they use all the tools at their disposal — money, power, influence, media and politics — to achieve their ends. In recent years, they have also mastered the politics of personal destruction. Fueled by extremists who have been fighting progressive politicians and ideas for decades, they are funded by corporations, foundations and individuals like Richard Mellon Scaife.
(Source) We will deal with “the politics of personal destruction” at a later time, but if one had to summarize her explanation, it would sound something like “a vast right wing conspiracy.”

Only time will tell how far this everybody’s out to get me attitude will take her.
