Obama Comments and Views from Over the Pond
![]()
Responding to Part IV of our commentary series on Senator Obama's convention speech, James Atticus Bowden remarked:
Please note that Obama says "give more and more to those who have the most." Barack Hussein Obama doesn't get it.
Government doesn't give money to the wealthy in tax cuts. Government takes less from what individuals earned themselves. The money belongs to the individual - not the state.
Fundamental difference in understanding. The money belongs to The People who choose to fund a limited government. Not, the money belongs to the government to dole out to The People.
The precept which underlies Senator Obama's comments and illuminated by Bowden is that all of the income of all of the nations citizens and corporations belongs to the government, except for that portion which the government in its beneficence permits the people to retain. A precept ungrounded in reality.
Similarly Daily Telegraph's Simon Heffer observes the "John McCain offered Republicans vision rooted in reality, not Barack Obama's empty promises." Heffer goes on to muse on party differences: the connection Republicans have with reality, practicality running through their veins as idealism does through the Democrats’. But I commend the entire article to our readers.
On a side note, we are approaching the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. As part of that anniversary observance, Washington will host the fourth annual America Supports You march. This year's route is from the Women in Military Service Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery to the Pentagon. Your correspondent will be participating, and plans to report Sunday. I hope you will join us.

Thanks for the amplification.
The difference in political parties is as stark as another proposition - namely:
Are citizens subjects of the state or sovereigns of the state?
