Defending the American Dream Friday Evening

Capitalists and fellow travelers were delighted by the unabashedly free market views presented at the evening "Tribute to Ronald Reagan" dinner at the Defending the American Dream Summit. Speakers included George Will, Dinesh D'Souza, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), Edwin Meese III, and Dr. James C Miller. Miller, and Meese offered personal insights of working for and with the Gipper, reminding the audience of the greatness Ronald Reagan brought to the presidency.

George Will offered what was perhaps the most insightful comment. He reflected on two intersecting trend lines. The first declining line represents the proportion of Americans who pay income tax. The second intersecting and increasing line represents those who are receiving government benefits. Shortly, when it is realized that the majority are on the receiving end and those paying on the minority, there will be no incentive to keep the many from accelerating the plunder of the few, for the little time the few continue to produce a bounty to be plundered.
