Eleven Eleven Eleven 3rd Plus 90

90 years past, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month 1918, the guns of World War 1 fell silent. It is our privilege and honor today to pay tribute to all those who served under the American colors then and now. Serving today in Operation Iraqi Freedom are the 2nd and 4th Brigade Combat Teams, the Aviation Brigade and the 3rd Sustainment Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division. This tribute is to that division and all who have served and are recognized this Veteran's Day. The 3rd Infantry Division was activated in November 1917 for service in the First World War, taking up positions on the Marne River by July 14, 1918. It was there that the division earned its reputation and motto, Rock of the Marne. As French and other units on both flanks withdrew in the face of Germany's last offensive of the war, General J.T. Dickman, Commander 3rd Division unmistakeably communicated his intentions for his division with the words that would become synonomous with the division to this day, "Nous Resteron La", We shall remain here.
At this 11th Hour let every American remember this great division and all of our veterans from Valley Forge to today and grant them a heartfelt and dearly purchased Hooah.
