Fox News' O'Reilly Attacks Kaine over Illegal Aliens

Update.
In his talking points memo on Fox News minutes ago, Bill O'Reilly attacked Virginia Governor Tim Kaine for protecting illegal aliens. Read More.

The memo is now posted online. O'Reilly leads off the attack asserting:
The first group are politicians, like Virginia Governor Kaine and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, among legions of others, who want liberal votes and therefore resist efforts to inform the Feds about dangerous illegals in their states.

One might wonder how O'Reilly came to know of the Kaine's protocitizen proclivities.
Perhaps he is reading Attorney General Bob McDonnells' press releases. Just a week ago an AG press release contained the following:
This past January I called on the Governor to allow state agencies to enter into immigration enforcement agreements with the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). I believe this to be a necessary and important action, and I have continued to call for it. Unfortunately, the Governor has repeatedly refused to execute these agreements.

Mothers Against Drunk Illegal Aliens

A couple of months ago, the deaths of two Virginia Beach teenagers sparked a national debate led by Bill O’Reilly over the issue of illegal aliens and drunk driving. Many have called into question a seeming loophole between local and federal law enforcement agencies, whereby illegal aliens are able to remain in the country after committing crimes, because either local officials do not turn them over to ICE or ICE does not have the time or the manpower to deport these individuals. The fact is that there are several instances where illegal immigrants with prior records have killed innocent Americans while driving drunk.

The question is what does it matter that they were illegal immigrants? Aren’t they the same as any other drunk driver? NO!

There is a major difference between drunk driving citizens and drunk driving illegals. At first this does not make any sense whatsoever. Drunk drivers by any other name are still drunk drivers. Their actions are still just as deadly. The fact they have entered the country illegally does not make their inebriated state any more deadly behind the wheal of a car.

The key distinction lies not in the act, but in the propensity to act. Let me explain. Drunk drivers are dangerous and many otherwise upstanding citizens can fall prey to the temptation to drive while under the influence. However, it is also true that those who unashamedly commit other crimes, from drugs to murder, are more likely to break the law in other areas, i.e. driving drunk.

It is the fact that these individuals show a disrespect for the rule of law in the first place that makes them so dangerous. Illegal aliens show that they do not respect our laws by the fact that they have illegally invaded the country. There is a good chance that they have not only broken into the country, denying the sovereignty of a nation, but also forged documents, mail fraud – identity theft, and are co-conspirators in human trafficking. Their propensity to break other laws is therefore greater than the average law abiding citizen. This does not mean that U.S. citizens do not drive drunk. Some obviously do. The point of the focus on drunk driving illegal aliens is their propensity to break the law, because they have taken that first step of entering the country illegally.

Those with a propensity to break the law are certainly very dangerous individuals and should not be taken lightly. Many of these illegals would not have killed their victims if law enforcement officers on both the state and federal level had worked together to ensure that they were deported. It is their propensity for crime, their willingness to break the law, that makes illegal aliens so dangerous.

O'Reilly Excuses Tabloidization of News

I know "tabloidization" is not really a word, but you get my point. Last night, Bill O'Reilly said that the excessive coverage of Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, and similar stories is just because twenty-four hours is just too long to discuss real news. Somehow, with two wars, a Presidential campaign underway, serious problems in state and local government, and untold examples of great accomplishment and terrible failure around the country and the world, it is too much to expect Fox News Channel or CNN to discuss things that really matter throughout their programming.

Especially considering that cable news networks report many of their stories every hour or two during a day, how can it possibly be much of a challenge to find a few solid hours of news every day? There are far too many things happening in the world of real significance for so much news time to be wasted prognosticating about who fathered Anna Nicole Smith's baby or listening to a recording of Alec Baldwin yelling at his daughter. People wishing to saturate themselves with such gossip can certainly find it on E! or read about it in People. 24-Hour news networks should spend their time on actual news. In the words of Bill O'Reilly, "to do otherwise would be ridiculous." Read More. . . .
