Hoeft Flip Flops on Presidential Endorsement

Jim Hoeft, one of the Commonwealth’s leading conservative bloggers and founder of Bearing Drift, has flip-flopped on his GOP presidential endorsement.

On December 19th he endorsed Governor Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination for President. In this post Jim stated, “Our decision to choose Romney over all others was difficult. However, we feel that Romney not only shares many of the positives of Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee and McCain, but he succeeds in doing well where their negatives trail off,” and concluded, “We would be wise to unite behind him now.” Again on January 17th Jim reaffirmed his support for Romney in this post saying, “It seems the National Review and now Ann Coulter agree with the Squeaky Wheel and I that Mitt Romney represents the best candidate in the Republican field.”

Then in a seemingly unexplained flip flop Mr. Hoeft said that he now supports McCain. In this post, he plainly stated, “This is in addition to Shaun Kenney, DJ McGuire, Old Zach, Anne Dalton, and myself, who I know for sure in the Virginia Blogosphere are pro-McCain.”

Has Jim merely joined the Republican lemmings who have recently flocked to McCain or is there something more substantial? Usually one does not switch candidates until the old endorsee is out of the race. To give credence to a lemmings theory, Jim titles one post “Conservatives continue to endorse Romney” and the most recent one “More Republicans in Virginia supporting McCain.”

I ask Jim the same question I ask the rest of the lemmings,

Down with Tyrants – The Large Conservative Blog

Sic Semper Tyrannis (SST) is back with a brand new site that will be able to be one of the best Conservative Blogs on the web. SST has the capabilities to rival the likes of Raising Kaine. Conservatives can sign up for their own login on the site. This will quickly become a highly successful blog.

We here at The Virginian Federalist eagerly welcome SST back to the Virginia Blogosphere.

I have for some time been seeking way that a Large Conservative blog could be formed. I am not technologically savvy enough to do this, but as the good folks over at SST have this capability, I would encourage conservative blogges to sign up. This takes the Virginia blogosphere to a new level. Much thanks goes to the editors of SST for making this possible.
I may post more later.

Two New Aggregators

That’s right two new aggregators have just hit the Virginia Blogosphere. First, the Old Dominion Blog Alliance has created an aggregator of all of the members of the alliances’ posts at http://odba.tumblr.com/. Congratulations to the ODBA, this was long overdue. I plan to read it often.

Second, the conservative bloggers in Virginia finally have an aggregator of their own. This has been a dream of mine for a long time, but I had nothing to do with its final realization. Jane Dudley has just started Conservativa found at http://www.conservativa.com/. I look forward to reading this aggregator. It has been a great need in the blogosphere. Like I said before I have not had any contact with Ms Dudley. I don’t even know if The Virginian Federalist is on the site, but I think this is a great idea and I hope to see it flourish.

That being said, the call for a large conservative blog where conservative bloggers could post from across the state is still alive. I am taking suggestions for a name at present and should have something up in the next few weeks. Please continue to email editor.vafederalist@gmail.com if you have any suggestions or would like to be apart of this. Read More. . . .

Large Conservative Blog Update

First of all, I am very sorry for how long this has taken. There is still the possibility that a more workable solution will work out.

However, until then I have placed the feeds of every conservative blog in the state (that I know of) at the bottom of The Virginian Federalist. Scroll down past the first five posts and you will see the links of each of the most recent posts from the conservative blogosphere in Virginia. (If I missed your blog or one you know of, leave the feed as a comment.)

Second, if you are interested in a large conservative blog where every conservative can post, then leave me a comment or email us at editor.vafederalist@gmail.com. This would be something similar to Raising Kaine for conservatives. I will set it up, if there is enough response.

This being said, you will notice that The Virginian Federalist has a bit of a new look. If you are not on our blogroll don’t get all up in arms, yet. It is still a work in progress. We hope you continue to enjoy The Virginian Federalist.
